Embracing Change: Lessons from My Life of Relocation and Family Growth

Throughout my life, I've experienced the unique challenges and rewards that come from relocating frequently. My beginnings in Pennsylvania prepared me for moving to places like Colorado, California, and other wonderful states. Each move was not just a change of address; it was a necessary step to support my family, and it shaped my journey in profound ways. I matured mentally, and spiritually and learned along the way to encourage others who also want to spread their wings and fly!

Every new town brought with it a fresh opportunity to connect with local church members, attend community meetings, and support individuals and businesses. These connections became my lifeline. I learned to appreciate the power of community, understanding that each person I met had a story and a lesson to share. From a business owner who complimented how well-behaved my sons were to the manager of a popular grocery chain sharing how he knew from youth, it was his calling. Whether it was helping market a charity event or simply talking with a neighbor, these interactions enriched my life and deepened my understanding of the world around me.

For instance, in one community, I was fortunate to partner with local entrepreneurs, helping them craft compelling narratives for their businesses. This not only honed my writing skills but also taught me invaluable lessons about resilience and creativity in the face of adversity. Each experience reinforced my belief in the importance of supporting one another, especially in challenging times.

Striking a balance between family and business wasn't easy. There were times when the demands of work felt overwhelming, and I struggled to juggle deadlines with family commitments. However, these challenges have taught me the importance of prioritizing what truly matters especially during the pandemic.

With my children now older and pursuing their own passions, I've found a renewed sense of joy and freedom. Watching them chase their dreams reminds me of the sacrifices made along the way, and how those sacrifices have ultimately contributed to their growth. They have become independent thinkers and doers, and I am at peace knowing that our journey—as challenging as it sometimes was—has equipped them with the tools they need to walk their own paths.

As I reflect on my journey, I am filled with gratitude for the life lessons learned and the relationships formed. Each relocation has been a chapter that contributed to my personal and professional growth. The struggles of balancing family and work have paved the way for deeper connections and a richer appreciation for the present.

Now, as I stand at this new crossroads, graduating this year with a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership, I celebrate not only my own achievements but also the milestones of my family. I am excited to support them as they pursue their passions, just as I did for them in their formative years. Together, we continue to grow, learn, and embrace the changes that life brings.

In the end, it's not the places we've lived that define us, but the relationships we've built and the lessons we've learned along the way. Here’s to the adventures yet to come, and the joy of sharing them with those we love.

A Word from Nicholl McGuire

With each passing year, there are new things happening with me.  I am excited about the many things that have taken place in recent years with myself and family from relocation to many writings.  Although we have had our shares of challenges, most of us have survived the storms.  So I encourage loved ones to continue to keep your heads up!  There is little time to worry, stress, or cry over spilled beans, so to speak.

I am learning each day to manage my time effectively, drive myself to finish my to do lists, and most of all allow God to be my guide.  I am happy with my progress.  Recently, I re-connected with extended relatives and old friends and that has been most beneficial.

In centuries past, there was no need of telephones, email, gaming devices, planes, trains, buses, etc.  and I personally believe people got more done too!  Nowadays, some can't even wrap their heads around not celebrating holidays, seeing relatives, or sitting on couches watching television screens.  It is so sad how much we have grown dependent on people, places and things merely for entertainment.

I can honestly say that I have been doing my part to cut down unnecessary stressors, meaningless entertainment, and doing what needs to be done spiritually, mentally and physically--thanks to an Almighty God.  We simply don't know when the day or hour will come that we will be called home.  I challenge some of you readers to do the same.  Then when you have done your significant tasks for the day, then reward yourself with some personal pleasures.  Rather than squeeze every moment of the day indulging.

In closing, I am still keeping the faith, standing strong, and living courageously!  Be blessed!

Special Thanks from Nicholl McGuire of nichollmcguire.blogspot.com

I just wanted to take this time to say, "Thank you!"  My twitter followers, YouTube subscribers, Hub Pages family, Plurk folks, and others who have passed on my article, blog and video links!  You have helped out so much over the years by showing your online support, thank you, thank you!

Just the other day a link I remember posting that only had less than 10 views a year ago attracted over a thousand clicks, and others like this that started off the same way, increased far more than I ever expected.  It turns out that people online do actually care about others and how they have handled various life experiences, there was a time I doubted this.  Back in those days (1992-93), the Internet (World Wide Web), was nothing more than a landfill of sites that wanted nothing more than to get you to buy something without establishing any kind of relationship with you.  Site after site had paragraphs of text, boring images, and many links.  Back then, you didn't need to subscribe or join anything to see a site.

These days with so much socializing, link sharing, chatting, and more, it is very easy to establish a real relationship with someone or many miles away.  I hope to reach more people in the future and add many more to my circles around the web.

Have a great day or night!

Sincerely,

Nicholl

Too Many Ideas, Too Little Time

One of the biggest frustrations of being someone like me is having too much energy for too many things. I would have never dreamed that I would find one of the hardest things about working for one's self is to stay focused on a task until you see the results you so desire.

I don't like waiting around for results. I like doing what needs to be done and then, like cooking a meal, checking on it later while cutting up the veggies to go with it. But what I have been noticing lately is that every task I start it requires that I spend great lengths of time babysitting it. To shorten my time with certain projects, I decided to research "automated" then add whatever task I need to do next to it.

I have found everything from blogs that update themselves to forum posting automatically and most cost allot of money and usually come with monthly fees. Although many of these inventions appear to be great, after further research I found that they have many glitches, aren't worth the money, or violate policies of major websites and search engines that I really need to promote my projects.

So here I am back to square one, attempting to find something, anything that I can just let simmer while I start another profitable venture.
